The Power of the Square
The square is central to the artist’s work—a form both challenging and powerful. Unlike nature’s organic curves, the square is manmade, its balance shifting entirely with the addition of a single dot or line. This adaptability fascinates the artist, who refines its rigidity into subtlety.
Inspired by ancient square tablets from third-millennium BC temples—often seen as the first paintings—the artist views the square as a timeless canvas. These carved reliefs, originally ritual objects, reveal how practical forms transcend their origins to become art. Similarly, museums recontextualize such artifacts, showcasing their beauty and craftsmanship.
For the artist, storytelling is essential—art is about people and their creations. Through his work with squares, he bridges history and humanity, crafting forms that resonate with both past and present.
